Post-operative endoprosthetic SSIs often require staged revision surgery and long-term intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy.
Thus, staged revision should be the standard treatment for fungal PJI.
One-stage revision is an attractive treatment for infected hip arthroplasty, because it can reduce morbidity, it reduces costs, and it avoids the technical difficulties of staged revision surgery.
