Analogous to cancer cells that exhibit high rates of proliferation, malaria parasites at the intraerythrocytic stage replicate rapidly and are highly susceptible to artemisinins through a mechansism thought to involve heme derived from red blood cells [60].
This is because at this stage replicated CIM was used to pin point the most likely location of the peak within an already mapped QTL that is isolated within a 10 Mb congenic strain with phenotypic differences in body fat [ 38].
Furthermore, our test of the prognostic value of the Berlin definition severity stages replicated those described in the initial Berlin definition, further suggesting our sample is representative of a broader ARDS population.
We sampled seven developmental stages, replicated in triplicate, for this study: Gastrula (24 hpf), vestibular larva (28 hpf), early rudiment (32 hpf), pentaradial rudiment (36 hpf), advanced rudiment (40 hpf), early juvenile (96 hpf), and late juvenile (10 days past fertilization [dpf]).
