The heat transfer rate from the gas phase, Qy, is about 60% of the total heat transfer rate, QT, under the no-imposed-flow horizontal flame spread condition (u¯="0 m/s).
Non-quantitative examination of live cells over time indicates that after the first few hours cells reach their fully spread condition, and the variation in the extent of spreading of each cell after that time is small relative to the range of variation seen over the entire population; this appears to be true for GFP expression as well [see Additional File 2].
