The viral protein was eventually adopted by its host and incorporated into the fungal genome, generating a family of proteins that are now critical to producing spores, invading host tissues and other fungal characteristics.
Fungi being filamentous in nature possess have an advantage in the decomposition of lignocellulosic waste as they possess ability to produce prolific spores that can quickly invade substrates and supported by a broad variety of enzymes with complementary catalytic activities (Lundell et al. 2010).
