To that end, the conservancy sponsored a lecture by the architect Robert A.M. Stern last October, in which Stern listed thirty-five modern buildings in New York that he deemed worthy of designation as landmarks, and proclaimed that the time had come to treat modern architecture as reverentially as the architecture of the distant past, for, after all, modernism now is the past.
On Feb. 6 from 6 30 to 8 p.m. the institute will sponsor a lecture on Chinese household deities, including kitchen gods: $10 for members, $12 for nonmembers.
The Landmarks Conservancy will sponsor a lecture on Tuesday at 6 p.m., on the influence of Italian architecture on McKim, Mead & White.
Grass-Fed Meats On Nov. 18 from 6 30 to 9 p.m., Earth Pledge Foundation, an environmental group in a carriage house at 149 East 38th Street, is sponsoring a lecture there about grass-fed meats from Skate Creek Farm in Delaware County, N.Y.
Trees New York, a nonprofit organization, will sponsor a lecture on the Asian long-horned beetle on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m., at the Arsenal in Central Park, Fifth Avenue and 64th Street.
The Henrietta Wells Livermore School of Politics sponsors a political lecture series and organizes volunteers for campaigning.
Now, Stillman and Alabama co-sponsor a lecture series in memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In addition to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum sponsors a number of lectures, performances, and film screenings.
The museum is also a sponsor of a lecture about the tradition of Christmas dinner in 19th-century America, to be given by Ms. Kaufman on Dec. 9 at Sotheby's Institute of Art, 1334 York Avenue (72nd Street).
