The time from the first population splitting event up to the second population splitting event was T = 220 generations.
We found that a vicariant event was at the origin of the first splitting event, which was followed by a second splitting event (split between P. hispanicus hispanicus Central and P. hispanicus edwardsianus lineage) in which the role of ecologically based divergent selection (i.e. niche divergence) may have been more prominent.
The second population splitting event occurred in population 2. The population sizes after the second splitting event were N1 = 1815.1, N2 = 315.1, and N3 = 815.1.
This corresponds to the crowd splitting event.
The Ade+ transformants were found to contain two new YACs of 490 and 100 kb, and to lack the original 590 kb YAC, consistent with the expected splitting event.
The evolution of the group separation over time from the local dispersion to the splitting event is illustrated in Figure 9. Figure 9 Representation of local dispersion and splitting events.

The multiple-threshold result of 80 putative species led to a large number of splitting events, including splitting of topotype specimens.
Clinicopathological parameters of each patient were listed in Additional file 6: Table S5, and the relationships between regional splitting events and clinicopathological characteristics were summarized in Table 5. Splitting of 11q13.3-q13.4 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis (LNM) (P = 0.004) and advanced stages (P = 0.004).
Thus we expect our phylogeny to capture early splitting events among tribes and genera and to undersample more tipward splits.
The number of splitting events is the total number of exons minus one (for reversion of splitting, a long exon can be reconstructed by connecting all exons together).
The second value we record is the number of nodes or historical splitting events along each path through the tree.
