These spikes are dominated by errors in the velocity, as can be deduced by comparing the magnitude of the spikes in position and velocity-space.
During the ensuing Battle of Leros, the LRDG Rhodesians at Point 320, commanded by Rhodesian Captain J R Olivey, spiked their position's guns and withdrew before counter-attacking and retaking the point the next day.
