Swing speed, stance duration, stride length and body speed of all paws correlated with dopamine depletion severity (Table 1).
For each prosthetic mass condition, the stride and step lengths, stepping speed, stance, swing and gait cycle durations, self-selected walking speed, cadence, and knee flexion angle, were measured.
Regardless of the speed, stance traces run parallel to the body axis with the forelegs positioned more medially (Fig. 4a).

However, in patients with hemiplegia wearing a sling, walking speed and stance period of the paretic side increased, double support time of the paretic side decreased, excursion of the center of gravity (COG) decreased, and weight bearing of the paretic side increased.
The insole was then loaded with total body weight for 1 second by lifting the left foot off the ground, simulating the magnitude and speed of stance phase loading during gait.
As previously noted in several insect species (Wilson, 1966; Graham, 1972; Strauss and Heisenberg, 1990) as speed increases, stance phase duration becomes shorter while swing phase duration remains largely constant; at the fastest speeds the durations of both swing and stance phases equalize.

In dogs with spinal cord injury, OGA can be used to detect ataxia including limb-crossing, dragging of limbs, reduced speed, wide-based stance, difficulty with flexing joints, irregular steps and a tendency for higher impacts of the limbs when hitting the ground [ 9].
