The biochemical detection of glycogen in C. trachomatis inclusions [ 24] is greatly affected by Candida spp. that often exist in these specimens and are especially common during the female menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
Most of the gas production is due to proton and helium recoils from the proton beam interactions with the specimens, although gas and especially damage production from lower-energy spallation neutrons becomes increasingly significant at locations farther from the beam center.
Several studies have used microarrays for genome scale analysis in clinical specimens and cell lines, especially to identify subsets of genes that contribute to melanoma genesis and progression (Bittner et al, 2000; Clark et al, 2000; Hoek et al, 2004; de Wit et al, 2005; Haqq et al, 2005; Smith et al, 2005; Talantov et al, 2005; Winnepenninckx et al, 2006; Jaeger et al, 2007; Ryu et al, 2007).
In addition, there exists an uneven wear phenomenon on all of the specimens, especially in specimens B, C, E, and F. Specimen E, obtained with rolling tests using different speeds, exhibits another unusual wear phenomenon of smooth areas, as pointed out in Fig. 4b.
Close collaboration and frequent reporting between investigators, senior research staff, and clinic-based staff is a necessity to ensure scheduled data and specimen collection, especially given the constraints of local clinical, laboratory, and transport infrastructure, and the difficulties of locating participants in the community.
Continuing to archive and test tonsil specimens, especially in older birth cohorts, and other complementary large scale anonymous tissue surveys, particularly of post-mortem tissues, will further refine the calculated prevalence of PrPCJD.
In contrast, the other specimens, especially frozen specimens, resulted in poor IR.
In countries to which tuberculosis (TB) is endemic, the isolation of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) from clinical specimens, especially respiratory specimens, is not uncommon (1 – 3 ).
