Before fabricating specimens for tissue observation from the experimental animals, a mixture of xylazine HCL (2.3 mg/kg, Bayer) and ketamine (5 mg/kg, Yuhan Corporation) was intravenously injected into the minipigs at four, eight, and 12 weeks after graft to put the minipigs under anesthesia.
Data on body weight were obtained, if possible, from the actual specimen used for tissue collection (n = 24), or taken from the literature.
This was done in this fashion at the request of the Surgical Pathology Department in order to maintain the integrity of the intact BCS specimen for standard tissue processing that would be subsequently performed in the Surgical Pathology Department.
