The aim of this paper is to systematically review specialised operating platforms used or in development for NOTES procedures.
Fourteen different magazines were included in this review: six specialised in pregnancy/family life/childcare, four were classified as tabloids and four were dedicated to fashion/variety (Appendix S1, see Supporting information).
In addition specialised economic databases were reviewed and accessed through the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination allowing exposure to relevant databases including Database of Abstracts of Reviews and Effects (DARE) and 11,000 economic evaluations collected in the National Health Service Economic Evaluation Database NHSEEDD).
A pathologist specialised in gynecologic oncology reviewed all cases.
Furthermore, the inclusion of grey literature and if the search was supplemented by consulting current contents, reviews, textbooks, specialised registers or experts were rarely reported.
All possible links were subject to clerical review by highly specialised Linkage Officers who have access to the historical archive of previously linked records and determine whether the available evidence supports the creation of a link or not.
Therefore, analysis of the results of those reviews will require specialised methods.
