The retirement age would increase by two years, to 67 from 65, while certain categories of civil servants on "special salaries" would see their wages cut by as much as 35 percent.
Giving an indication of where the ax will fall in 2013 and 2014, Mr. Venizelos said the state's operating costs would be cut in an effort to avoid further reductions to the "special salaries" of specific groups of civil servants like judges and military employees, whose wages already have been reduced 40 percent.
The projections do include costs for special wartime salary bonuses, as well as fuel, food, ordnance and transportation costs related to the war effort, and the costs of mobilizing reservists.
All of the war-price tallies include operations in the war zone, support for troops, repair or replacement of equipment, reservists' salaries, special combat pay for regular forces and some care for wounded veterans — expenses that typically fall outside the regular Defense Department or Veterans Affairs budgets.
A Cabinet Office spokeswoman said: "Decisions about special adviser salaries take into account various factors including the level of responsibility associated with a particular role and the background and experience of the individual concerned.
In the special clinic, effective salary rates are much higher, whereas economic theory would predict that a slightly higher salary than the public sector rate would attract ample supply of labour.
