This concept is a temporal version of the shaping of spatial waveforms in the visual system.
For example, in V1 excitatory and inhibitory neurons both increase their activation in response to a relevant input, which shapes the spatial waveforms that define the (center-surround) receptive fields of visual neurons [52].
As can be seen in Fig. 4a, when the spatial MMF waveform is at the transient time of ωt = 0, π/2, π, 3π/2, respectively, and with a scaling factor ( beta = 2sqrt 2 NI_{text{A}} /pi ), the MMF pushes to the left in space and exists obvious vibration.

The spatial distribution, temporal waveform, and the spectrum of and are shown in Figures 5(a), 5(b), and 5(c), respectively.
However, inverting data from an array of small spatial dimension requires waveforms of high signal to noise ratio and high sampling rates.
Probe waveforms had the same spatial characteristics as the test waveform but were not presented in a dot-view display (see Figure 3A).

This result implies that the true slip distribution in the large-slip region was complicated beyond the limitation of the spatial resolution of the waveform inversion or some other factor was related to the triggering of aftershocks in the large-slip region.
