'spatial segment' is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it to refer to an area, section, or space that is distinct from other areas. For example, "The park was divided into spatial segments, each with its own distinct features to explore."
Perhaps it should say that the two objects are in contact with a 'segment' of space, and spatial segments have magnitude.
