Results highlighted the considerable challenges associated with the translation of at-sensor radiance observations to surface bidirectional reflectances in dryland environments, where issues such as high aerosol loadings and large spatial gradients in surface reflectance from bright desert soils to dark vegetated fields are often present.
The observation stations, used in Fig. 4 and shown as red cross marks in Fig. 1a, correspond to those with high loadings in the spatial pattern of EOF1 and those where the windward side of the southwest monsoon is located.
Using the LHEM/SME the Patuxent landscape model (PLM) was built to simulate fundamental ecological processes in the watershed scale driven by temporal (nutrient loadings, climatic conditions) and spatial (land use patterns) forcings.
PC 2 to PC 5 display various spatial patterns and temporal variation in the loadings which can be interpreted as spatial and temporal variations in vegetation state not properly accounted for by the NDVI rainfall correction.
On the third axis, the same visuo-spatial and manual tasks have high negative loadings while dynamic balance, motor pathways and auditivo memory have high positive values.
Spatial variations of selected non-point source pollutant loadings are also assessed.
The factor loadings matrix is responsible for modeling spatial variation, while the common factors are responsible for modeling the temporal variation.
Numerical solutions obtained with the computer program which accompanies this development have been found to be stable and in agreement for a wide range of practical values of both spatial and time increments for typical shells and loadings.
A factor analysis of data from several thousand mice was carried out by Wolfer and Lipp [ 6], who reported that only the third and least important factor showed loadings of behavioral variables related to spatial orientation, explaining less than 20% of the observed variance in behavior.
For generalized loadings, the dependence of I4 on the spatial orientation of the fibers can be analyzed through angle plane diagrams.
