While the occurrence of Cr in these water resources is contributed by anthropogenic (e.g., steel mills, leather-tanning facilities) and indigenous sources (weathering of rocks and soils), there is an imminent interest to reduce the concentration of Cr from drinking water resources.
The network is part of an audacious plan to crowd-source weather measurement and, Weather Underground hopes, to snatch viewers from its larger competitor, the Weather Channel's Weather.com.
The Weathermob app, free on iOS, tackles that by sourcing weather reports from people who are exactly at the spot you are interested in visiting or knowing more about.
This means it can crowd-source weather conditions across the board, with GPS enabled mapping and private chat groups with friends.
"My two year target is to have accumulated enough historic data that we can do useful predictions using just one StormTag — we'll also be building out the crowd sourced weather predictions and mapping," he says, adding: "In the interim, we'll be delivering some fantastic data to our users, as well as hyper local readings".

The device also collects enough data that Nest can start to draw from really large data sets on consumption and correlate that knowledge with information from other sources, like weather forecasts, to make a more powerful product.
Some scientific sources, governments, weather services, press agencies, and NGOs are also used.
This has had particular value in highlighting new sources of weather observations, as well as thinking about ways to recover, store and digitise data on a mass scale.
The study extensively uses various secondary data sources including weather and climate reports, policy documents, maps and charts and survey data, among others.
