Maximising its accessibility, Notes on Blindness is available in audio-described and enhanced soundtrack versions, the latter transforming the film into a singular aural experience.
The original soundtrack versions of "Stars of Tears" and "Small Two of Pieces" were featured on the 2001 compilation Square Vocal Collection, and again in 2009 on the compilation Colours of Light.
"An 89-year-old would say 'that's our song', but children can learn it, too, almost like a nursery rhyme, and it's very attractive to them," she says, pointing out how countless parents have told her that the soundtrack's version of Dancing Queen is one of their school-run staples.
The ripples of the film's extended life have ranged from the obvious (booming DVD sales) to the even-by-its-standards peculiar (the soundtrack's version of Tears for Fears' Mad World by LA bar singer Gary Jules randomly becoming last year's Christmas No 1).
Instead, sitting in my backyard on summer and early autumn nights -- one of the finest urban pleasures I know -- I've become a devoted listener of what you might call the soundtrack-only version of "Rear Window".
