As ludicrous as it sounds I got my Year 6 class to analyse Girls Aloud's Love Machine.
I wanted to make a record that was kind of dreamy, like a lullaby: magical, ethereal, like dream sounds—I got inspired by what else was out there.
There was something familiar in Sara's bullying that I could relate to from my childhood as a punching bag, and as fucked-up as it sounds, I got off on it.
And, as trite as it may sound, I get to do so knowing that there are hundreds of thousands of people doing the exact same thing.
"It's one of those things where if people look at it they say, 'Wow, I can be more ecologically sound, I get upgrades when I want to…'" he says.
The Ariel treatment is the sound I get from my 8-track.
"It's something that grabbed me immediately – the sound I got from this variety of instruments.
"When I heard that sound, I got really scared," Ms. Cardoso remembered in the office of her lawyer, Guy I. Smiley.
But if I really want to get into some old-timey sounds, I'll get out of my country instruments like that and write with them.
The service is at 11, so after sound check I get robed up in purple and white and off we go.
