"sort of tight" is correct and commonly used in written English.
It is often used in informal and conversational contexts to indicate that something is only slightly or partially tight, rather than fully tight. Example: "The knot was sort of tight, but I was able to untie it with a little effort." In this sentence, the speaker is describing the level of tightness of a knot. Instead of saying "the knot was tight," they use "sort of tight" to convey that it was not extremely tight, but still required some effort to untie.
