Upon an extensive optimization and analysis on model vegetable tanned samples, Microscopic investigation of laser tests with the historical leather in the buckles showed that the soiling particles could be removed satisfactory without damaging the leather using the commonly used laser wavelength 1064 nm [35] at fluence of 2 J cm−2 using 3 scans(Fig. 6, right).
