When water enters the soil, the soil suction gradually decreases.
To account for this decrease in soil suction for modeling purposes, a set of soil suction values (i.e. 1000, 500, 180, and 38 kPa) were modeled.
Figure 1 gives the variation in soil suction at selected depths with respect to time.
The plot indicates a significant influence of the change in soil suction on the soil displacements.
