Two series of segmented polyurethanes having soft segment concentration of 50 and 70 wt%, and different concentrations of nanometer-diameter silica were prepared and tested.
Polyurethanes were thermoplastic elastomers with 50% and 70% soft segment concentration (SSC) for TPU-50 and TPU-70, respectively.
Above a loading of 0.3 mol CO2/mol MEA it is recommended to use the activity based model as systematic deviations occurred in the soft and concentration based models.

In our previous publication on the structure property behavior of segmented polyurethanes based on castor oil [Petrović ZS, Xu Y, Zhang W. Polymer Preprints 2007 48(2):852–3.], the results showed that these materials which possessed a soft segment weight concentration (SSC) of 70% have both low tensile strength and elongation at break.
In the present paper, we report a more striking effect that, irrespective of stress concentration, soft matrices also suppress the birth rate in a bond cluster by increasing the local separation distance between open bonds.
