With Bush in Africa, UNICEF spotlights the sobering situation of children NAIROBI/GENEVA/NEW YORK, 8 July 2003 – UNICEF today released statistics on the life-and-death challenges facing children in the five African countries to be visited this week by U.S. President George Bush.
This applies across the board -- whether the context is a sober hypothetical situation, making a joke, or taunting an opponent in a campaign.
Faced with such a situation, sober governments would surely pause.
Despite their concerns, some Republicans said that while they were sobered by the situation, they were not scared.
Sobered by their situation, the two couples contemplate their ruined relationships and their prospects for future harmony.
From President Bush on down through his advisers, a more sober assessment of the situation in Iraq has been presented by the administration, with officials stressing the difficulty of counterinsurgency as well as the importance of preventing Iraq from descending into chaos and becoming a haven for terrorists.
