"soaking period" is an acceptable term in written English.
It is used to refer to a period of time during which something is allowed to soak in liquid, such as for a dye or fabric to fully take on the color of the dye. For example, "We let the fabric soak for the full soaking period to ensure the color would be vibrant."
Parameters that affect the efficiency of the solid-phase microextraction step such as soaking solvent, soaking period, desorption period, stirring rate, extraction time, sample pH, ionic strength, organic solvent and temperature were investigated using a Plackett Burman screening design.
