Avoid extremely smooth containers.
Non-climbers such as Blatta lateralis (Turkistan Roach, among others), Blaberus (Death's head cockroach, for instance), and Eublaberus species (Orangehead Roach, for instance) are easier to manage because they cannot climb out of smooth containers.
