Heaviness of Smoking Index and exposure to passive smoke were analysed as explanatory variables for participants whose self reported smoking status and BCO measured smoking status were disparate.
Nicotine dependence (ND) was assessed by the cigarettes smoked per day (CPD), the Heaviness of Smoking Index (HSI), and the Fagerstrom Test for ND (FTND).
However, EGFR mutations were less observed in patients who smoked more than 20 pack-year of smoking index, that is, the EGFR mutation rate in patients with 20 30 pack-year of smoking index, 30 60, 60 90, and more than 90 was 42.1, 25.0, 16.0, and 8.3%, respectively (Table 3).
The smoking index was measured in terms of pack-years smoked.
