According to Gartner, smart clothes are predicted to surpass smartwatches and fitness bands to become the biggest wearables sector by next year, with 26 million smart garments expected to be shipped in 2016, up from 0.01 million in 2013.

So smart garments may well be a natural counterbalance reaction to a surfeit of ugly fitness wearables.
