Mostly, larger response was observed when the bridges were located in parallel than for the single bridge case; but in a few cases, smaller response was observed when the bluffer girder was located close leeward of the other girder.
The approach provides causal relationships between macro and micro scales wherein procedures for homogenization of properties and localization of small-scale response are built-in.
Indeed, in this study, fairly synchronous, although small, responses were occasionally observed when high concentrations of choline (0.5 1 mM) were focally applied via a picospritzer pipette to recorded CA1 pyramidal neurons (Figure 1D).
Reporting of such small responses is justified because AML is usually a rapidly progressive disease and any spontaneous improvement is regarded as unexpected.
One explanation is that these small responses are sufficient to elicit activity in the projection neuron post-synaptic to the Or42a sensory neuron.
A similar, but significantly smaller, response is noticed with a medium from nonirradiated cultures, but only in the stationary growth phase with almost 100 times more cells involved.
