Additional analyses will be conducted to test effects of the intervention on development of depressive symptoms using latent growth curve (LGC) modeling [ 66], in which the intercept and slope of levels of depressive symptoms using scale scores (as we will have 6 assessments) are modelled, and effects of condition can be examined.
The final model considered also level 2 variables predicting both the intercept and the slopes of level 1 predictors.
HLM assesses the effects of level 2 variables (group level variables) both on the intercept and on the slopes of level 1 (individual) predictors.
The slope of source level vs. distance was 6 dB/dd (R2 = 0.6) up to ca. 5 m, after which source level levelled out between 120 and 130 dB SPL (Fig. 2).

The same relationship when calculated for second level bins gave an r2 of 0.98 and a slope of 1.14 (second level bin data not shown).
