Here we describe a method called slope contrast mapping that takes advantage of the dissimilarity between artificial and natural slopes to identify and map discrete features.
The result is exemplified in Figure 2 for two SiGe islands, where (a) and (d) represent the SAI images with slope contrast similar as to that in Figure 1, and 1(b) and 1 e) their Laplacian transformation, in which the grey-scale corresponds to the local surface curvature in the image, thus producing a strong edge contrast between the facet areas of the islands [5].
Dyke et al. found that histograms for both the initial slope of contrast enhancement and dual compartment pharmacokinetic model of dynamic MR enhancement predicted the pathologic tumour necrosis level in patients with OS and EFT imaged following induction chemotherapy, before surgery.
