During 2009 2012, Xia and Zhang invented and investigated the valveless piezoelectric pump with an unsymmetrical slope chamber bottom.
The unsymmetrical slope chamber bottom is composed of a series of slopes with different inclination angles, which forms a square cone with the continuous unsymmetrical structure.
From this point of view, the unsymmetrical slope chamber can be seen as an integrated structure built by repeated elements linking in series.
Fig. 34 and Fig. 35 show the pump structure and the structure of the unsymmetrical slope chamber bottom[46, 47, 48, 49, 50].
Furthermore, the unsymmetrical slope chamber can also be considered as an integrated structure with elements linking in parallel when divided it in the direction perpendicular to the flow direction.

Two slope-casting chambers were designed in order to observe the precipitation process from both the substrate side and the bath side (in separate experiments).
The results indicate that variation in pixel area is much lower in the sloped-wall chambers.
As indicated in Fig. 3, the Ctrax software was particularly robust when analyzing data collected in our sloped-wall chambers.
The amount and rate of cell release was greatest at the highest chamber slope, which controlled the amount of exchange with the sand and/or the extent of physical nonequilibrium in the runoff layer, and the amount of retained cells.
The peak concentration levels were lower and the concentration tailing was higher with increasing chamber slope because of greater amounts of exchange with the sand and/or extents of physical nonequilibrium (e.g., water flow in rills and incomplete mixing) in the runoff layer.
The slope of the chamber wall was more critical than its height, but might also be adjusted.
