The posteroventral process of the dentary is bifurcated into two slender branches that overlap the lateral surface of the angular; the dorsal one reaches the ventral border of the external mandibular fenestra, and the other reaches the ventral border of the lower jaw (Figure 4A).
Whether this apparent mismatch between the cell type definition based on soma location and cell morphology is due to variability in the depth measurements in in vivo recordings or represents an actual overlap of slender-tufted and thick-tufted pyramidal neuron somata in L5 is an unresolved issue.
By overlapping thousands of individual slender fibers, random fiber webs emerge yielding non-woven materials that find applications e.g. in textile, building and hygiene industry as integral components of baby diapers, closing textiles, filters and medical devices, to name but a few.
Border collies show developmental delay; microcephaly; typical facial gestalt; slender extremities; and neutropenia, which was enough overlap for us to suspect TNS was homologous to Cohen syndrome.
In L5, however, there may be no clear laminar separation between L5A and L5B containing slender- and thick-tufted cells at all (as indicated by the significant overlap of the 2 populations based on recording depth, see inset in Fig. 4 A ).
The northern pintail broadly overlaps in size with the similarly-widespread mallard, but is more slender, elongated and gracile, with a relatively longer neck and (in males) a longer tail.
