We identified two nominally significant correlations of DNA methylation at cg21046959 with LCL gene expression of the closest protein-coding transcript of PRL, located ~100 kb upstream of the CpG-site (r = 0.17, P = 4.5 × 10−3), and at cg27094856 with skin tissue expression levels of AXL (r = −0.15, P = 0.01) (Fig. 4a, b).
