To test whether foreign gene expression can be improved in transgenic mice by manipulating the site of integration, we co-integrated the efficiently expressed sheep β-lactoglobulin gene with two poorly expressed β-lactoglobulin-derived genes encoding human proteins.
Because HIV DNA integrates at many sites in the human genome, the site of integration can be used to identify clonally expanded cells that arose from a single infected progenitor.
(3) Site of integration influences efficiency of processing and presentation.
This variation frequently depends on the site of integration (position effect) or the copy number of the transgene.
