We estimated the power of the study for a given set of sample size and parameters by simulating data and determining the proportion of simulations for which the null hypothesis is rejected.
They are calculated as the proportion of simulations for which the linear combination of effects exceeds the target value.
It was shown that the experiments yielded consistent results which differ significantly from ThermoCalc simulations for which a commercial TiAl database was used.
The thermography results are compared with axial Langmuir probe measurements and with results of the electricfield simulations, for which the plasma is modelled by use of Drude model.
This can be explained by the contribution of the runs during the Monte Carlo simulations, for which the target has not yet been detected (i.e. the entropy has not yet dropped below the detection threshold).
A promising alternative is in the use of design of experiments, a statistical method that allows defining a structured and restricted number of simulations for which all input parameters vary simultaneously.

In this study we use simulated annealing to adjust parameters of a simulation model for which the simulation outcome is sensitive to data perturbation by making use of data from related parameters which is easier to estimate.
These four individuals were mixed with 396 other individuals in an assumed case control study scenario and were examined by HRRA (Fig. 3B). Figure 3C shows the result from a representative simulation for which the HRRA P-value ranked at the 50th percentile among all the simulated cases.
Figure 10a shows the configuration of the simulation, for which the grid spacing is 70 m.
This simulation, for which associated computational times are compatible with the design phase, is known to be insufficiently predictive.
The other important issue is to reduce the computational costs in a long time simulation, for which an efficient control scheme of the time step size is important (for example, Radau5).
