Sedimentological analysis reveals three lithofacies associations: (1) Channel Facies Association near the mouth of the tributary, (2) Back-Flow Facies Associathen in the middle section, and (3) Silt and Massive Sand Facies Association in the head of the tributary.
Levels PM3 and PM4 are fluvial units with massive facies of silts and sands (overbank environment), both are affected by pedogenesis.
(6) A final semi-abandonment phase, comprising coarse sand facies, concurs silting up and a 100 150 m progradation of the port coastline after the seventh century AD.
Ginkgophyte fossils, including isolated leaves, thus far have been discovered from the silt-clay lenses of facies b in the quarries of Adamswiller, Bust, Gottenhouse, Soultz-les-Bains, Hangviller and Arzviller.

The study of the Montebestia landslide (Umbria, Central Italy) is related to the general analysis of the types and causes of landslides which frequently involve the continental plio-pleistocenic sediments (gravels, sands, silts and clay) of the fluvial-lacustrine facies of the "Ancient Tiberian Lake Basin" ("Villafranchiano" Auctorum).
The three primary facies types are soft silty clay/clayey silt, somewhat indurated silt/sand interbeds, and Pliocene conglomerates underlying the former.
