Soil particle size distribution (clay, silt, sand and fine clay), organic matter content (OM), carbonate content, bulk density and gravel content were determined as predictors of the surface shear strength.
Mound building activities changed soil particle size distribution, with the silt and clay content of mounds higher than for non-mound soil.
The specialised mixtures rely on an engineered grain size distribution, with practically no silt sized grains, and a fraction of sodium bentonites capable of forming colloidal suspension when compacted.
From the grain size distribution curve, the percentage of silt, sand and clay fraction in Panki and Panipat pond ash are found to be 4.809, 95.167, 0 and 12.014 %, 87.243 %, 0 % respectively.
