'sills' is a correct and usable word in written English.
It is a noun, and it refers to the part of the window frame that rests on the outside of a building. For example: "The old windows had begun to rot, and needed to be replaced along with their sills."
Compared with the Friday meeting, this one can be quite a squeeze, with many attendees standing, perching on window sills or sitting on the floor.
Window and door openings are boxed in with horizontal 2 × 4 lumber called headers at the top and sills at the bottom.
