signalling event
noun
A transmitter encodes data by producing a signal which is a continuous stream of signalling events each which has sufficient information for the receiver to recover the original data. Just like a quantum leap is the smallest measurable leap, a signalling event is the smallest possible amount of signal that the receiver needs to recover the original data without error.

This review critically examines the progress that has been made in the intervening years from the design of new agents that target a specific signalling event in the mast cell degranulation pathway to those agents which have been developed where the precise mechanism of action remains elusive.
We further investigate which signalling event is primarily responsible for the main peak at ~15 min. As shown in Additional File 1, Figure S8.
Interestingly, JNK-MAPKKKs are also activated by GTP-binding proteins of the Rho-family [ 57], and therefore upregulation of Rho-GEF DBS and TIM may be related to this enhanced stress signalling event.
Alternatively, as already indicated, via a 'biased signalling' process, PARs can be activated to affect selectively MAPK signalling via a G12/13-triggered G12/13-triggered causing a Gq-mediated calcium signalling event [ 28].
Considering that NALCN was activated by M3R but not by M4R, whereas it has been suggested that both muscarinic receptors can activate SFKs (Rosenblum et al, 2000), we next investigated the hypothesis that NALCN could associate with M3R in the same complex, thus involving a spatially localized signalling event.
However, it remains a challenge to identify those differentially regulated transcripts that are direct targets of the transfected miRNA or siRNA (i.e. sequence-specified) from those that are 'indirect' events (e.g. a signalling event as a consequence of perturbing the cellular network).
