The questionnaire study by Kowacs et al. on the patients' view on side effects of preventive treatment revealed that side effects are better accepted by patients with high use or actual overuse of attack treatment, which is consistent with our findings [ 34].
Primary care medicine has included a focus on prevention for decades, but the possible side effects of preventive treatments were unknown or underemphasized.
