Both groups were similar in terms of the side fractured (p = 0.82) and the fracture type (p > 0.05) (Table 1).
The two groups were significantly homogeneous concerning age, gender, side, fracture subtype, and displacement extent before treatment (analysed by Fisher's exact test, respectively, with p = 1, p = 0.595, p = 0.706, p = 0.802, Table 1).
Significant core material compression was observed in configuration 1, while in configuration 2 the core layers disintegrated and the front skin (blast side) fractured into two pieces along the midsection.
Variables examined included sex, age, affected side, fracture type (neck vs. trochanteric), place where the fracture occurred (indoors vs. outdoors), and cause of injury.
The medical reports were reviewed for epidemiological data such as age, gender, fracture side, fracture aetiology, co-morbidity, pre- and postoperative mobility levels and presence of pain.
Demographic data, including age, gender, body mass index (BMI, Kg/m), injured side, fracture type, and number of pins, as well as the pin site care regimen and every pin site condition were recorded for all patients.

The remaining five fracture cases (Table 2, no. 8 12) were seen in the group B. One patient (fracture cases 6 and 7 in Table 2) had both-sided fractures.
