The multilayer showed reflections of (101), (110), (002), (200), (103), and (310), and all these reflections correspond to the tetragonal phase of ZrO2.
When the two layers of the solid were physically separated and analyzed by XRD, the top layer showed reflections at 7.8 29.1002), 29.1 2θ (220), 30.1 2θ (222) indicative of 11 Å tobermorite and the bottom layer showed one broad reflection at 29.5 2θ due to CSH (Figure 2).
43/100 were thin crystals that showed reflections in the 2 4 Å range, with the best crystal in this set yielding data to ∼1.7 Å resolution.
The respective diffraction patterns showed reflections of ThB4O8 or UB4O8, unreacted ThO2 or UO2.12 (denoted with lines in Figure 1), and, in both cases, a still-unknown phase (denoted with circles in Figure 1).
Diffraction patterns from untilted crystals showed reflections beyond 1.9 Å (Supplementary Figure S1), but the resolution was more limited in diffraction patterns of highly tilted crystals (Supplementary Figure S2).

The top layer shows reflections at 7.8 29.1002), 29.1 2θ (220), and 30.1 2θ (222) that are indicative of 11 Å tobermorite (White Square) while the bottom layer shows one broad reflection at 29.5 2θ due to CSH (Black Circle).

Both XRD spectra in Figure S9 show reflections with spacings d = 35.9, 5.4, 4.4, and 3.8 Å. Reflections at 35.9, 5.4, 4.4, and 3.8 Å have been discussed above in relation to acidic solutions with and without ZnCl2.
