Most of these patients are introduced to clinical care with an UICC Union International Contre Cancerr) stage III or IV, and show an overall life expectancy of less than 40%, despite multimodal treatment strategies like surgery, radiation and chemotherapy [ 9].
Bcc infected CF patients show a median life expectancy decrease of 15 years compared to the general CF population [4] and Bcc infection is currently a contraindication to lung transplant in several CF clinics due to poor post-transplantation outcomes [5].

We therefore chose to use the original New Zealand life tables, which are centred on the census years and show a slightly narrowing life expectancy gap, and the original Australian figures, which provide a series of estimates over the period in which we are interested.
