Indeed, some populations of traditional and modern varieties combined short (indicative of modern breeding) and tall plants (illustrating the double use of traditional varieties, for straw and grain).
The deeper branches of the Australo-Papuan clade in Figures 2 and 3 are all quite short, indicative of a period of rapid diversification, but the branching pattern varies with the methods used and no one pattern is well supported.
Specifically, brief exposure of the PbS/TiO2 to air for 90 min resulted in the drastic decrease of the absorbance and the shift of the absorption edge to shorter wavelengths, indicative of the reduction of the PbS size, as shown by the dashed line in Figure 1b.
They observed a shorter T2*, indicative of more deoxygenated blood, in perilesional areas of placebo- and sildenafil-treated rats starting at 1 and 2 weeks after stroke, respectively, which was hypothesized to arise from maturing angiogenic venous structures.

Cytology revealed the presence of many rod-shaped bacteria in short chains indicative of L. monocytogenes.
By comparison with the height of the checks, the progenies were classified into one of two statures: tall (T), corresponding to the usual stature of traditional varieties, and short (S), indicative of modern breeding.
The bell shape of the p(r) curve (results not shown) has a short tail, indicative of a globular particle which is slightly elongated, in agreement with the dimensionless Kratky analysis.
This pattern is congruent with our phylogeny, which showed high levels of diversification early in the divergence process followed by relatively long branches with additional short branches indicative of diversification at the tips (fig. 1).
The latter is in accord with the corresponding distances between mTS Cys189 γS and dUMP C6 that, albeit in all cases too long to indicate covalent bonds, are shorter and thus indicative of a tighter binding of ligands in more closed dimer AB (2.48 and 2.43 Å for chains A and B, resp).
