Lest that sound like faint praise, he quickly qualifies it: earlier this week, in a day trip around Stockholm's record shops, he added 50 singles to his already mammoth Abba collection.

There are numerous galleries and shops and a cute little music hall called De Badcuyp, which is perhaps the best example of the district's transformation.

"The independent coffee shops offer consumers a more unique experience than one of the chains," she says.
The docks are stupendous buildings, but what impressed me most were the splendid arrangements for unloading vessels, which came close up to the quays, and disembarked their cargoes into the shops as it were.
Vicki Hughes, for example, uses many of Brighton's coffee shops to conduct a lot of the business for her company, Fugu PR. "There is definitely something unique about Brighton and coffee shops," she says.
All of which suggests that the success of coffee shops in places like Brighton and Hove has been driven not by marketing but by consumer demand – and that shows no sign of abating.
"I think what sustains Brighton's coffee shops is the fact that there are so many freelancers and creatives in the city," he says.
