Processing of the harder compositions was also difficult and some could not be compression molded into flat sheets for testing.
Three more sheets were positioned at the same angle (+45°) to the longitudinal axis of the beam, each butting up against the other until the final applied sheet overlapped the existing CFRP sheet (for test 3) by 71.1 mm (2.8 in).. Similarly, four sheets were applied on the opposite face of the beam.
