I share my bread roll with the fish and crabs hanging out in the shallows below, then sit on the balcony back at my bungalow watching a rainstorm sweep through the lagoon.
By the beginning of September, shallow water areas of both sites have dried up below the outer edge of the thickets, and further research continued in the shallows below the thickets.
For example, when our temperate, broadleaf stand is subjected to diffuse sunlight, the mean leaf irradiance declines steeply in the upper third of crown (kext ≳ 1, where kext is the exponential extinction coefficient) but is relatively shallow below that height (kext ≤ 0.75).
Intermittent streamflow was observed more frequently below trail crossings where the majority of channels surveyed were wider and more shallow below the trail than in upstream channels (Table 3).
The larger depth of this isotherm in the northern part of the model compared to the southern part (Fig. 9d) implies a weaker rheology of the lithosphere at shallower depth below the Alps than below the northern part of the model area.
GNSS network observations suggest that volume changes before and after the 2007 eruption totaled 6 × 106 m3, of which 5.5 × 106 m3 was in an open-crack fault and 0.32 × 106 m3 was in a shallower sphere below sea level.
This is a strong opposition to the idea that site effects can be modeled only by the shallower structure below a site (say, down to 30 m), if our primary concern is focused only onto the high frequency content.
The new SRF inferred depths show a constant feature in the Southern Alps, where the depths are estimated to be about 100 km (profile EE′ in Fig. 4), yet show a shallower discontinuity below the Slovenian stations (PERS-GROS).
Moreover, higher temperatures at shallow depths below the Alps (compared to larger depths below the Molasse Basin) would explain the earthquake distribution described by Deichmann et al. (1999), Willingshofer and Cloetingh (2003) and Singer et al. (2014) with deep earthquakes in the foreland and shallow earthquakes in the Alpine area.
As shown in Section 6, a high-likelihood region for the tremor source is shallower than 1.5 km below the northern part of Shinmoedake (Fig. 11).
