It is derived from the PAS-ADD semistructured clinical interview and assesses primary psychiatric symptoms based on the frequency and severity of behaviour during the past 4 weeks.
The intensity score (ECBI-I), the outcome measure used for the model, measures how many times these behaviours occur, with higher scores indicating greater severity of behaviour problems.
LCA, based on an empirically bottom-up approach, enables the classification of children into mutually exclusive groups on the basis of the type and/or severity of behaviour.
As with anything, the severity of the behaviour varies from individual to individual.
The severity of the behaviour problems can be the borderline and clinical cut-off point, corresponding with standardized norm scores of 60 and 63, respectively [ 1, 30].

In this 58-item questionnaire, the frequency and severity of problem behaviour during the past 4 weeks is rated by the group leader and the key carer, yielding five subscale scores: (1) irritability, agitation, crying; (2) lethargy, social withdrawal; (3) stereotypic behaviour; (4) hyperactivity, non-compliance and (5) inappropriate speech.
There is accumulating evidence that the presence of co-morbid disorders in treatment-seeking problem gamblers is associated with an increased severity of gambling behaviour, gambling-related consequences, psychiatric symptoms, impulsivity and other psychosocial difficulties (Grall-Bronnec et al., 2011; Grant and Kim, 2003; Ibanez et al., 2001; Ledgerwood and Petry, 2006).
Ensuring treatment continuation through improved adherence is therefore a major objective in the treatment of schizophrenia and can impact on morbidity [ 6, 8- 11], attempted suicide [ 6, 12], severity of violent behaviour [ 13], and patient satisfaction [ 9] as well as direct and indirect healthcare costs [ 14- 16].
