Jas, binds F-actin competitively with another F-actin stabilizing drug, phalloidin [39], and probably exerts anti-severing effects against cofilin in a manner similar to phalloidin.
Integrin linked kinase (ILK) is a component of focal adhesion plaques [ 62, 63], and has direct effects on actin modification through the phosphorylation of cofilin, where it acts to block the actin-severing effect of unphosphorylated cofilin [ 64], and integrin stimulation triggers signaling through this kinase [ 65, 66].

Finally, we tested the hypothesis that cold functionally substitutes for Spastin's severing activity through the promotion of microtubule disassembly, and discovered instead that the alleviatory effects of cooling also extend to other mutations causing synaptic dysfunction.
