The Rankin Stroke Scale has five levels: (1) no symptoms; (2) minor handicap – restriction in lifestyle, can look after self; (3) moderate handicap – restriction in lifestyle preventing independent existence; (4) moderately severe handicap – clearly preventing independence, no constant attention needed; and (5) severe handicap – requiring constant attention.
Kutner et al. [ 25] underlined that patients who suffered severe fractures recovered their independence after the fall in 71%% of cases.
